Technology company Apple has announced the introduction of a new iPad Mini that supports Artificial Intelligence. This small tablet is the first of its kind to feature Apple's new intelligence capabilities, which the company is promoting as the future of its devices. The introduced features include tools for rewriting text, an updated version of Siri, and other apps like Clean Up.
Cutting-Edge Performance
The new iPad Mini is powered by Apple's A17 Pro chip, which is used in the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models. With a six-core central processing unit, the A17 Pro boosts CPU performance by 30% compared to the current generation iPad minis and is central to running Apple Intelligence, Apple's AI software. Apple said it would roll out the first set of AI features in the US version of the English language this month through a software update with iPadOS 18.1. The features will be available for iPads with A17 Pro or M1 chips and later generations, Apple said, adding it will roll out "
New Features and Improvements
The new iPad Mini also comes in two new colors: blue and purple, and features an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display surrounded by equal-width bezels on all sides. Inside, the device offers 128/256/512GB of storage memory, doubling the starting storage from the previous generation. The more powerful chip will make the new iPad Mini better at running demanding, new games, but it also brings support for Apple Intelligence, with features such as AI-powered Writing Tools, photo editing enhancements, and improved Siri functionality.
Availability and Pricing
It should be noted that the iPad Mini hasn't been updated since 2021, meaning these devices do not support AI tools. This new update includes the A17 Pro chip from last year's iPhone 15 Pro. According to Apple, running Apple Intelligence requires advanced processors, which means only the iPhone 15 Pro and this year's iPhone 16 lineup have access to it.
This version of the mini iPad will be available next week on Wednesday, October 23rd, priced at $499.
